I have done extensive [read: hyperfixated] research on rain jackets for the UK. Patagonia torrentshell 3L won for rain protection, hands down. It’s not as long as I’d consider ideal, but it’s the one I bought because of the ability to keep me truly dry.

If they don’t fold up easily into a backpack forget it, our weather in Ireland changes so quick you could need raincoat at 9am and shorts by 11am

I live in Scotland and I say go for the Barbour— it’ll be wearable with more things, looks good with layers under, and having a longer coat when it’s pouring outside is a huge plus! Barbour is also known for their quality and it will last for years (not saying the DM won’t, but Barbour specializes in jackets)!

Hey girl! Just wanted to let you know showerproof and waterproof are not the same- showerproof is only good for a light rain aka ‘shower’. Love all the jackets!

id go for the second honestly. irish weather can go from raining to sunny super quick, so you dont want to have to carry a big coat if its changeable weather

As a Norwegian hiking-girlie, I would pick the first one. It is very cute, and more importantly: the lenght. The worst feeling is when all of the water from the jacket falls above your knees when out walking… unless you will have rain-trousers on, ofcourse..

Scotland here...#1 You will wear it in the US more often because of the neutral print and colors. Barbour is usually windproof and it is the Queen's go to brand...🥰 🏴
