Round tables are pretty, but I dislike them as coffee tables, or with a kitchen built-in. Only one or two people can reach them. Makes no sense. Truthfully I'm not a fan of built in seating anyway.

I believe AI is an amazing tool but you still need to know what to ask for and you need to know how to spot this kind of problems. The designer job I don’t think will disappear but AI is part of the designers toolkit.

There is a big difference between spaces/objects set up for show vs. actually being used. AI does not "use" anything, therefore it does not know how to design for functionality and comfort. Also, just because a thing can be done, doesn't mean it should be done.

I just love listening to you. Im binging on you right now 💐I mostly hate ai, but I think you’re underestimating its abilities.These apps you’re referring to are for fun and offer some ideas for ppl who would only do worse without it.If you were to take that rendering and download it into a more sophisticated version of Ai, it would tell you everything you said. Reflections from the window and all. Why? Because you, or someone as smart as you said it first. It learns from us. You are programming it. It’s scrubbing the net to come up with answers and claiming it as its own, and it’s getting better( or worse) Ai told my prof that a babies nursery, if attached to the master bedroom, can later become a dressing room.

I hate this trend in real estate too. Just show me the empty room. Your virtual staging looks fake, skews room proportions, and can be deceptive about the real condition of the home.

I feel like AI design is going to have the same problems that I have in design. Sure, you can look at ideas and make something that looks great on paper. But knowing something works, in the climate, budget, seasonal changes that it needs to is something I'd only trust a professional with. What works in the Golden Desert, doesn't always work in the PNW

I have a feeling it makes designs using items that do not exist and disregards measurement proportions, unless it is an ai designed for a specific company. Even then, I would not trust it

AI is a step in the assembly line. It needs something tangible to work from. It is not at all phase where it has enough data to make multifaceted decisions like we humans can. I did cave and use it to choose what colour to paint my fires around, but that was just colouring in a photo and it still couldn't get that right. it couldn't separate the fire surround from the hearth.

do you have anything to say about designing with young families in mind? how do you account for the barbies, art supplies (and disasters), and couch forts. I feel like well designed spaces are too sterile and unlived in for a four year old, but a house with a two and six year old in it is a hopeless pile of clutter and Lego traps.
