I’m sad that so much of my life has revolved around having to hold myself accountable when I get hurt and need a boundary instead of them taking accountability for why that pain happened so often I needed that boundary. Now I’m no contact with certain people and I get reminded from time to time that I’m the one in the wrong or, worse, that I’m less than and worth ostracizing. 💔

What they did is deflection as well. there's 2 sides -- what side are you focusing on? how do you apologize when your escape was your reaction and how you felt pain? I think true accountability comes from both parties being able to discuss it objectively.
