Emma’s worst thing was something toward someone else that she didn’t actually act on, whereas Charlie’s worst thing is something he ACTIVELY did that was harmful toward Emma specifically…. Both may deserve forgiveness but as far as their relationship goes, Charlie’s is worse & she should leave him 😭

A constant thought i had after my 4 year relationship ended (due to growing apart) was if we would fall in love again if we met again for the first time. People are always saying long lasting relationships are about falling in love over and over again. The ending scene made me cry because i thought it was brave to try and start over again, but if emma and charlie gave it enough time, then they would not like the people they are actually seeing in front of them (knowing the truth)

Yea they stay together. What makes you think the ending isn’t manipulative in the sense that women want to get married for forever. They don’t want someone who’s just listing over them. For Charlie to be involved in a kind of violent altercation and to have had to stand up to all of his friends over this awful thing that his fiancé wanted to do deepens their bond. It’s lowkey like the phantom thread in a way. We hear or see manipulation and we think “BAD” but it’s only that way to those who don’t want to play. Charlie manipulated to get her Emma kinda manipulated to keep him. I think they both love each other but each party needed to put some skin in the game and it’s brilliant

And that’s why this movie is soooo good because it gets people thinking and talking and understanding the world around them. It’s so refreshing after seeing ai slop all over the media that spells everything out for the audience and leaves nothing up to interpretation

Immediately in the theater my 2013 coraline theorizer came out and I don't know if Emma even went into the diner. a person in the same coat walks past before emma walks in. The lyrics that play loudly as she walks past him and ignores him are "I know that she's gone, but my love lives on, in a dream"

@William: i personally believe love is about radical acceptance & understanding that people will be always be in flux. the ending worked for me & i think it’s romantic due to the fact that they will totally stay together.

I don't think she's there, I think this was in his head. There were layers throughout that showed that there were fantasies...like the laughing on the couch the morning after the confessions. Also, I swear she had blood on her dress as she walks off, then there's no blood. There's also foreshadowing with what she says about the book she read and he didn't, the first date scene.
