@beyondflorida: Hollywood’s natural reefs are a community treasure, just a short swim from shore and enjoyed daily by families, snorkelers, and divers. The City has voted to permit vessel exclusion buoys at 218 yards -82 yards closer than the current 300-yard ordinance. This plan creates a dangerous boat lane directly over areas where snorkelers and divers swim, putting lives at risk. It will also disturb valuable reef habitat. I actually disagree, the dozens of mooring buoys right off Dania beach are in an area where the reef is doing very well. I'd rather have people use the mooring buoys which can help protect the reef from countless people actually throwing their anchors ripping up the reef, just my opinion.
