@kellylmatthews: you may experience those things but lifting is not the problem—doing it better is usually the solution #lifting #inflammation #strengthtraining

100% and issues with nutrition will cause inflammation wayyyy faster and more noticeably than any overtraining will

So exercise can have a significant impact on the gut and it does cause inflammation (partners PHD is on gastrointestinal in the gut), however, this is generally temporary and actually quite helpful for the body long term. I think a lot of the issue is social media and the comparison against the influencers who have more time to tick all the boxes, I think the issue comes as people working long hours, struggle to tick all the boxes making recovery much worse and inflammation worse. I think what people mean by inflammation from exercise is just actually water retention which the body does do after strenuous exercise to recover

Lifting does cause inflammation but it’s really not that big of a deal. I have to weigh in for work and I take a deload week before to drop a little bit of water weight. The benefits to lifting are incredible though.

Yeah I’ve been lifting for years and realized recently I was super undereating ON TOP of doing 2 1/2 gym sessions fasted 😂 idk how i did it, just wasnt even thinking ab my nutrition anymore lol. I’d never think to blame it on lifting though, makes no sense. Lifting and getting stronger literally benefits EVERYTHING in your body, mind and spirit.

So do you purposefully program the peaks/valleys (ie week one 60-70% 1RM, week two 70-80%, week four deload) or is it more based on personal progress

Does anyone have any tips on not inflaming tendons that haven't caught up to muscle? How long should I stay at the same weight until they're ready to take it? I progressively overloaded too quickly and my left elbow is so sore now - love, a newbie x

Literally!!!! For the first time ever im writing things down doing a cycle and programming deloads and flexing things if I feel run down etc. Long game! And im not gonna ditch it all for tai chi and say it’s the answer to everything. In keeping up lifting but adding in the fun stuff as a hobby :)

Also improper supplementation and nutrition. Vit D with K2, omega 3 really helped me so much
