Born and raised in the PNW camping out in the woods for over 45 years and have never had anything happen unless you count the chipmunks eating my snacks in the middle of the night lol (yes I know you should put all your food away at night but my husband forgot and left the box of Nutty Bars out and man chipmunks like them some Nutty Bars)

lived in Oregon for over 30 years...been in the woods many times by myself. there has been times (trail runner) that I turned back around. .Just didn't feel right! but still wandered the woods all the time. can be very peaceful too!

Mt. Shasta isn't pnw, it's Mt. Shasta. Shasta has it's own issues with aliens and other things that live in the mountain. As for guns, its an as you wish thing. I've lived in Oregon for the last 20 years & before that California.
