There's so many pieces to this left out. Yes the Semi Driver hit the truck. What they're leaving out is how the turn lane is barricaded off, leaving just the straight/turn lane all the way from the new bridge to 36/37, when they really only needed 100yards after the bridge. Additionally I saw reports that said the pickup drove almost all the way ro the exit ramp, then turned on turned on turn signal coming to a complete stop in a turn lane. There's plenty of blame for all 3 parties. I happen to be about a hr ahead of the accident & watched 3 people almost cause accidents by waiting till the ramp & stopping in a lane that isnt supposed to stop, just to get around the line, which made those behind them swerve into other lanes, etc.

This is clearly the driver’s fault, but that exit is already extremely busy. It’s the only major shopping outlet in the Columbus area and also serves as a truck stop, so traffic is heavy as it is. Shutting down lanes on a Saturday just makes an already congested situation worse and increases the risk of more accidents.

I’m in Columbus and heard about it. Waiting to hear more details on whether he had a valid CDL. It just seems there’s been a crazy increase in semi crashes where the semi driver is/ was at fault. Maybe the CDL system needs to be looked into

Bottom line is when you are slowed in traffic your primary threat is from your rear, stay alert and leave yourself an escape route when it's obvious the traffic behind is not stopping!

I drive semi for a living and I see these semi drivers not paying attention at all or driving with their feet on the dash and you don’t have the reaction time that you need with your feet on the dash.
