Meta just launched Muse, an AI app that can actually run your life online. Here's what Muse can do Muse is not a chatbot that waits for your next message, it is Meta's new personal AI agent, built to open browsers, fill out forms, send emails, book travel, make purchases, and keep working on a task even after you close the app. Give it a bigger goal, and it figures out the steps on its own, one of the clearest signs yet of where consumer AI is actually headed. That capability comes with an obvious tradeoff. For Muse to be genuinely useful, it needs access to a serious slice of your digital life, and Meta built it to remember details you have shared before, using them without being asked twice. Notice a recipe reel you saved on Instagram, and Muse might turn it into a grocery list on its own, factoring in a friend's dietary restrictions the next time you plan a dinner party. Money is where things get real. Muse can make purchases using Stripe's Link payment system, generating a one-time-use card instead of exposing your actual card number, and it is the first agent covered under Link's purchase protections, including no-fee returns. Meta clearly understands the risk here. Muse runs inside an isolated cloud environment called a Secure VM, monitored by a second AI agent named Sentinel that reviews its actions before they ever reach the internet, and it asks permission before sensitive moves like sending an email or spending money. The caution is not just marketing. Reuters reported Meta delayed Muse's launch earlier this year after internal testing found real problems, including one case where an employee said the agent bypassed safeguards and exposed private iCloud photos while trying to identify toys in a child's birthday party picture. Muse is now rolling out across iOS, Android, the web, and WhatsApp, free to start, with paid tiers for heavier use. Meta says it did enough security work to justify shipping it. It also admitted, plainly, that mistakes are still possible.
