@simplified.mom: Perimenopause took me by surprise last year. I woke up tired, lacking motivation and felt stiff all over. I had no desire to exercise and no desire to get my admin work done. I had to push myself. I just wanted to stay home and nap but I couldn’t fall asleep due to anxiety. Most nights I slept 6 hours or less. Which made me feel exhausted the next day. HRT wasn’t suitable for me due to risk. Instead I took supplements and adaptogenic foods I needed to balance my hormone. It took me 3 months to get my sleep back to normal. Which helped calm my anxiety. And finally, I added weight training back, which helped me regain some energy. Every morning now I do stretches by my pool or at the gym. My weight training coach said I needed to do stretching 3 times a day to reduce stiffness. I’m starting with once a day for now. 😅 I’ve been able to keep up with strength training for 45 min twice a week. Can’t believe it that at late 40s muscle can reduce. So am keeping up with this.
