@sacramentourbanmedia916: Illinois Man Accused in Death of 88-Year-Old Mother After Shopping Trip A 66-year-old man in Illinois has been charged with first-degree murder and concealing a death after police say his 88-year-old mother was killed shortly after returning home from a shopping trip. According to the Chicago Police Department, the victim had been out with her sister on March 26 before arriving back at her home on South Lafayette Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Family members became concerned the next day when she broke her routine and failed to send her usual early morning message, as well as missing work and church commitments. On March 29, her sister went to check on her and encountered the victim’s son, who allegedly appeared nervous and refused to let her inside. Police were then contacted. When officers arrived, the suspect reportedly gave inconsistent statements about his mother’s whereabouts. Inside the home, investigators found her cellphone and later determined it had last been used days after she was last seen. As the investigation continued, authorities located the victim’s vehicle and interviewed a witness who claimed the suspect had traded the car shortly after the woman’s disappearance. After several days, police executed a search warrant at the residence. With the help of K-9 units, they discovered the victim’s body in the basement, concealed behind a hidden area. Investigators also reported finding multiple suspicious items in the home, along with signs that areas had been cleaned. Surveillance footage from the residence reportedly showed the victim never leaving the home after returning from shopping. The suspect was taken into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 29. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.#fyp #viral
