This seems more effective than my method. When I have a maximum of three Eppendorf tubes (I've never tried with more), I wrap them together in Parafilm. With another piece of Parafilm, I make sure to wrap the black part of the vortex and my tubes together.

My trick for resuspending mag bead bottles is to turn off the vortexer, grab as many rubber bands as I can find, rubber band the bottle onto the plate and wrap the bands all the way around the bottom so they pull the plate down, flip the vortexer on and let er rip. (10 minutes is usually enough to resuspend, then pour off into buffer and let it sit on the rotator)
