Is it a sin not to go to church? You might have it all wrong. Many people believe that being a Christian simply means showing up at a church building every Sunday. They think if you don't go, you’re committing a sin or drifting away from God. But is that really what the Bible teaches? We need to understand one thing: The true Church was never meant to be a grand building made by human hands. God does not live within cold brick walls or wooden pews. He dwells within the hearts of those who sincerely seek Him. When Jesus preached the Gospel of the Kingdom, He didn’t lock Himself inside the Temple. Instead, He went to the people—by the seaside, on the mountains, and in their homes. In fact, He often rebuked the hypocrites who had a "religious appearance" but only cared about Temple rules while their hearts were far from God. Jesus gave us the most beautiful promise regarding gathering: "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." (Matthew 18:20) This means when you study the Word with a friend at home, talk about God while walking in the park, or seek the truth in a sincere online group—that is the Church. Now, gathering is important because it’s where we strengthen each other and grow. The Bible does remind us "not to give up meeting together." But we must be careful: Never let the ritual of "going to church" replace a real, living relationship with God. There are people whose bodies sit in a sanctuary, but their hearts are in the world. Meanwhile, there are others who cannot make it to a building, yet their lives are walking in God’s will every single day. Fellowship is a spiritual need and a blessing, not a forced religious obligation. Your faith should never be trapped within four walls. So let me ask you this: If every church building closed its doors tomorrow, would your faith collapse, or would it grow even stronger?
