My husband and I are both 🇨🇭 but his mother did not approve of our relationship. When she tried to separate us several times by letting me know that it won’t work out with us and he will be unhappy, one time I couldn’t stand it anymore and left him and he fought so hard to get me back. The last time she tried to interfere was at x-mas dinner after the wedding invitation had already been sent out, in front of the whole bigger family (brothers, wifes, nieces…) she asked if we are really sure we want to marry… the food was just put on the table and without a word my partner took my hand, said to his family we are leaving now and then guided me out of his parents home. We are together for over 25 years now, have had many fights, grown together over time and obviously nothing is perfect, but I’d never doubted his love since standing up against his family was the bravest thing he could ever have done ♥️♥️♥️

I’m always weirded out by the concept of “doing everything for your parents”. your parents brought YOU into this world. that was THEIR choice. not yours. you don’t owe your parents anything for that. sometimes parents say “but I gave you everything: a roof above your head, food, etc.” yes, because that’s normal. that’s what parents are obligated to do without expecting anything in return

My husband is Korean and he grew up without his parents present, this marked him ofc, but it also somehow freed him from caring about his parents expectations and puts ur family first always. ❤️🩹

Sacrificing for your parents doesn’t sound beautiful at all. I would not ever want my child to have to make sacrifices for me, it should be the other way around. I chose to put her in this world. She does has to respect (honour) me tho 😅

Does Parents knows what is Best for the child? Boolshit!!! Noone must decide anybody's love life. This is a toxic relationship between child and Parents. I agree a child to respect parents, and I Say that because I am also a mother and Parent for my daughter. But,never,never I will not decide who she wants to be with her, who to love.
