@dra_says: This is a really concept to understand. If ferrritin is low it means you have low iron. But if it’s is normal or high this could be raised by inflammatory processes so you may be still be iron deficient.

My ferritin is at almost 430 and this has been the case for many many years. I was told lose weight. But what’s missed is, I had high ferritin when I was smaller too.

what are the full panel they should do? I can only see my ferritin which was 11 and hemoglobin which was fine. ferritin being low doesn't mean iron deficiency??

Thanks for making this video. I wasn’t aware that my inflammation markers (ESR & CRP) being so high was causing my ferritin to be artificially higher than it actually is until I spoke to a private haematologist. I am now being referred to an nhs haematologist for suspected iron deficiency without anaemia. It’s a shame that multiple GPs overlooked this!

I got told that because my ferritin was fine they didn't need to test my iron even though I have multiple symptoms of low iron.

My ferritin levels have remained persistently elevated at 417 for over a year, yet this appears to have been largely ignored by rheumatology despite ongoing severe joint swelling, pain, and inflammation. I am increasingly concerned that the raised ferritin, together with my worsening symptoms, may point towards an underlying inflammatory or autoimmune condition that has not yet been fully investigated or addressed.!

Mine was 54 when I was in hospital with diverticulitis last year and then a few weeks later when it was tested again it was 28. So that proves it. I’ve never had my transferring saturation tested. I have fibromyalgia and also b12 deficiency

I'm always told my 'inflammation markers' are high and my RBC distribution width is abnormal on FBC tests. This is concerning. What should I do?
