I got married at 18 and we are 3 years going strong with our first baby on the way. I think what you’re saying is true for any relationship. you change after you get married whether you got married 18 or 30. Marriage is effort and having the ability to grow together. it’s a choice. in some ways, I think it can be harder to get married older due to you having more of a life figured out and then having to fit now someone into that life you have built for yourself rather than build a life with someone. just food for thought.

As someone who married at 22, I agree. We were together from 17. Currently 33 and still together with 2 children. I hope we make it, but I wouldn’t advise it

My boyfriend and I dated as teens, but didn’t get back together until we were 25. We talk ALL the time about how grateful we are that we had that time to grow up and change on our own. Life led us back together at the right time.

Got married at 19, also 23 now. But the different people we are now, are because we both pushed eachother to grow and supported that change. Growing apart only happens if you let it.

My husband and I got together when we were 15, married at 19, and are still together at 26/27. However, I would not recommend getting married to your partner at 19. I think we got incredibly lucky that we share the same wants and goals for a relationship. Especially after our teenage years.

I am very against getting married at 19, but I will say the whole "you'll be a different person at 24 than you are at 19" also applies to everyone. I got married at 25 and am now turning 30, I am definitely not the same person I was then and neither is my husband.

my husband and i got married at 22 and 21, there was definitely a point where we grew apart, but constant communication helped us to come together, and now we're 25 and 24 and so freaking close.

Married at 19 and we’re 22 now with 2 sons. I agree that you have to be very intentional about not growing apart, but I also think this applies to anyone of any age. There’s a reason they say the 1st and 7th year of marriage is so hard. Let me go tell my husband I’m so grateful for him rn❤️

That maturity considering thing is something I’ve had from growing up with emotionally immature household and it’s really weird because the cost is that I’m now 25 and /still/ haven’t experienced life without constantly considering others needs past what I even need to. It makes me wonder how like. Low pressure and free life would feel, when not constantly considering others needs 24/7.

no one is gonna be who they were 5 years ago no matter what age you are people change and evolve you have to be willing to set the boundaries and accept who that person becomes

I got married at 19, 22 now and still married expecting our first baby. We’re only three years in, but we’ve both changed a lot and it’s honestly taken a lot of work on both ends. After all of it though he is 100% still my person. I feel like we have an even healthier relationship now in comparison to when we first got married. That being said, I do not recommend it for most people. I think I honestly got lucky that my partner cares and is willing to put in effort just as much as I am.

I got married to my high school sweetheart at 23 and yeah I’m those years we both changed a TON (all for the better) but we happened to grow in the same directions (deconstructing, political beliefs, thoughts of kids, etc) I’m so glad we waited till we were 23 because we had to time to become adults first
