@x.i_k7: The Sumerian lyre is a stringed musical instrument, considered the oldest stringed instrument in history. (It is also known as the Sumerian lyre or the Ur lyre.) In 1929, the British explorer Leonard Woolley discovered them in the ancient cemetery of Ur in southern Iraq. He unearthed three lyres in the cemetery during excavations conducted between 1922 and 1934. One of these lyres, adorned with a bull's head, dates back to approximately 4500 BC. These lyres demonstrated that music was highly valued in Mesopotamia and was used to compose hymns to the gods. Woolley also discovered several female remains, and within easy reach of the lyre strings and frames, as well as gold and silver pieces, were found. #iraq🇮🇶 #mesopotamia #babyon #old #Lyres_of_Ur #babyon #IRAQ🇮🇶
