I went for a smear test recently and the nurse asked about my periods and I said I don’t get them regularly due to PCOS. The nurse didn’t even know what Pcos was!! It’s NOT spoken/educated enough!

i have been for 2 scans in the last year and a half, both showed multiple cysts on my ovaries. most recent scan i had showed them on both of my ovaries however my blood test came back normal, i have periods every month they have been irregular twice and very heavy and painful when i’m on. i also experience facial hair quite often and i’ve struggled to loose weight but they can’t diagnose me with pcos because i have regular periods

I’m the other way around where I had all of the other symptoms but no cysts. I was only officially diagnosed when I’ve recently being going through fertility tests where my nurse said they can now diagnose without the cysts.

i have 2 of the 3 thing but they said they won’t diagnose me with it intill i have my period for 8 years i’ve only had it 4 so and it’s so painful i hate it so much in so young as well

See I was told the opposite! Scan shows I have pco but was told my blood were fine so I do t have PCOS !!

my mum was diagnosed with PCOS and now im going through tests for a diagnosis. I feel like PCOS is not spoken about enough, when I tell people about it they always look so lost. and the thing is, it can have such a huge impact on so many things!

When I went for my ultrasound they told me they couldn’t tell me my results until I went for a blood test, they couldn’t even tell me if I had cysts

i spent years and years trying to get a diagnosis after doing loads of research, but when the doctor told me i had it she didn’t say anything else and just left me without any other info or anything :/

I went to an obgyn and was having very inconsistent periods, she told me no I didn't have PCOS and just said take bc. Well I had to get off bc because I had surgery for an ovarian cyst but my period never came back. My NEW obgyn had me tested and said yep I did infact have PCOS. He said basically my period history is a clear sign I had it just from my symptoms. I wish my first obgyn took me seriously because I would of known sooner. 🥺

no that's not correct, you can have polycysts but not have the hormonal disorder which is pcos, therefore they require 2 or 3 symptoms to diagnose not just the ultrasound

They tried that with me after my scan confirming the cysts. I asked what the other criteria were….. and subsequently gave them the dates when I had come to see them with those symptoms 🤬 every single symptom on the frigging list over 8 years!!!!

This is what I was told years ago. I had polysystic ovaries, other symptoms such as hurtuism but because my bloods were fine and my periods were regular, it wasn't "enough" to diagnose me.
