@jake.pnw: You Have to See This‼️😱 Gooseneck barnacles look more like little chicken feet sticking out of the rock than anything else, and those feathery appendages they flick through the water are called cirri. They use them to grab tiny drifting food right out of the current, then pull them back in fast when disturbed. Green sea anemones are a totally different animal, but they’re closely related to jellyfish and corals, which means they’re part of the cnidarian group and use stinging cells called nematocysts to catch prey. They eat things like tiny fish, shrimp, plankton, and other small animals that drift too close. So in the same tidepool, you’ve got one animal waving feather-like legs around to filter-feed, and another sitting still like a living trap waiting for food to come to it. #learning #education #nature #animals
