well yeah thats because the roads are designed to have as many cars on them as possible, not to move as many people as possible. car companies dont care if you get to ur destination fast when they lobby the government, they care that you keep driving anyways. yknow what would make driving better? getting people who dont want to be driving off the road. better train systems, dedicated bus lanes, dedicated bike lanes that arent just paint on the ground (can double as a dedicated emergency services lane, alongside the bus lane.) there are so many things that can be done to improve transit, both for drivers and pedestrians, that simply arent done because it would cut into corporations profits, and the government cant do that now can it? its being payed off via lobbying to not care about you, just care about corpos bottom lines.

idk who wrote that but as an Albertan I drove through Montana once and was like why the fuck are these secondary highways are like F1 track level smooth 🤯 this is amazing. (also there was 18km of road construction at 8 am and it was FINISHED by 8pm) I was flabbergasted
