@sadiebreann_: ok so!!! don’t hear something I’m not saying ok? there are of course plenty of times that I get angry for simple things but usually not lol #overwhelmedmom #overstimulatedmom #relatablemom #momrage #relatable
Sadie you’re changing my life/kids lives one video at a time. I experience the same cycles as you and nothing was working. Thank you for everything you’re sharing and your tips from your therapy sessions.

Where can you find that pause before you go into a rage. I can’t find it. I just explode.

love it!! My kids are older than yours and I have found when they are escalated and they're pulling me into that escalation (which always seems to happen when I am elbow deep in dinner or some other task that is pressing) I tell them they need to go to their room. The room is not punishment but recognizing we are both about to spiral. They are welcome out of their room when they are ready to reengage in the conversation in a calm manor. If they aren't back by the time I am finished my task I go check in with them. Sometimes they're not ready yet but most of the time they are. I find even the two minutes we are separated allows for the conversation to be far more productive. Like you said its usually that litany of other factors but that few minute separation allows me to close down those other thoughts and proceed with my kids with all of my mental bandwidth.

Ever since I went back to work after my second baby I’ve changed and become a worse mom. The work stress makes me an overstimulated angry annoyed mom. And it makes me so sad. I do have plans of quitting my job within the year. I’m so much happier and a better mom and wife being at home.

When my son was much younger, like 3yo. We were working with an SLP for delayed speech and a stutter, she explained that each “thing” was a rock in a bucket filled with water. The more rocks there were the faster the water would spill out. Once I started being proactive with removing these rocks it would help his speech patterns. He’s eventually grown through most od that, but I guess what I’m realizing is that now I have a bucket with rocks. And if I can take some rocks out of my bucket the more patient I can be ❤️thank you for making that analogy it’s kind of helping things click right now. My 5yo is such a soft sweet boy and I hate how reactive I can be.

Was there ever a point in your journey that you knew you should be using the tools and wanted to but lost it before you could use them in the actual moment?

What kind of therapy are you doing and have you found most helpful? Stuck in this cycle big time. Been in therapy for a year, and working on it and my therapist is great but starting to feel like I need a different therapy approach. Sowmthing deeper. Because the rage is real and not okay

How did you find a therapist that actually connected with you and what they said actually stuck because that’s where I am stuck

This is what I realized too for some reason my mental cup is always full with other things and then the kids are just being kids and it tips it off. It’s not them really

Oh it’s not my kid. He’s 2. The logical part of my brain KNOWS he is still learning. But when he looks at me telling him no and smashes a toy against my face the logic goes out the window 😭
