I think there’s a HUGE disconnect when someone loves romantasy, but picks up a fantasy romance! Everything is being thrown into the “romantasy” umbrella but there’s a distinct difference! I think if you love lore and plot driven stories, this is a serious for you! And if you really look forward to the romance/passion in a book, maybe pass on this one!

100000% agree. did we need another couple’s love story? hell no. it’s just a filler book to set up book three!! we already suspected about Odessa since book one, so that cliffhanger - people need to stop saying they were surprised. really? you were surprised that the MC was forced to dye her hair for a reason or that she was highly sensitive to the Voster? be so for real right now. there was nothing new here.

I appreciate your honesty, but I 100% disagree. I loved this book from page one. I did guess everything that it entailed at a very early stage, but I thought I was brilliant. Connecting the dots and storyline’s was fun. Book 3 is going to be amazing!

Thank you! I thought I was by myself. I didn't predict anything but I was very bored. It was confusing and boring then it was a plot stall to me. I was not connected to the characters or the storyline.

For me it feels disjointed from book one... like maybe Caspias chapter could have been a novella or a prequel and the story of Odess and Ransom could have had more development more focus... was it bad no... but it felt disconnected

The whole series is underwhelming for me. The romance is really the worst part too. It’s so undeveloped and lacks passion. In my opinion. There’s no passion at all.

Okay, I DNfed the first book because I couldn’t stand being in Odessa (is that her name can’t remember) and had to give up. I considered trying again because I saw some good reviews of RotS but now I’m conflicted.

Wow I’m so surprised!! We’re usually so aligned! I LOVED this one. I did actually predict quite a bit but by the end I cried. I was captivated by it and I can’t wait to see how we wrap up in one more book. I’m sad you didn’t like it but we’re all so different with our preferences and I also think it’s timing for some books and when we consume them too.

This is the first time I’ve ever (kindly!) disagreed with a review of yours but I’m here for it. I’m bummed you don’t love this one but I actually enjoy listening to negative reviews of books I loved because it gives me different perspectives to view the story from and sometimes it sends me into reread that’s has ended in a shift of opinion a couple times. Anyway I would looove a spoiler review and your in depth thoughts on this one!
