Interesting trick! Thanks for sharing the steps that help! It’s kind of like when you want to change something in your life you should not focus on what you lack or are not doing well, but more on what is it that you want and do well already. To stay in the positive. So I totally get that, instead of trying not to think about that thought, redirect to something that you should or want to be thinking about. Seems very similar to the concept of (sorry for those this triggers) “the game”. You’re not allowed to think about it so, the moment it’s mentioned, it’s all you can think about for days. Eventually you forget until it pops up again.
