"The biggest myth about the titanic is they didnt have enough life boats". Your wording is confusing. legally yes they had enough. But not for every passenger which is where that saying comes from

they also didn't fill lifeboats to full capacity because 1st class didn't want to be with lower class passengers

Interesting fact; the order of women and children first was interpreted differently. Lightoller understood the order to mean women and children ONLY, whereas Murdoch understood the order to mean women and children FIRST, but not exclusively. Meaning men could still board the boats if there was nobody else about.

How many would have fit in the Lifeboats of the Titanic? 1178. How many People were on the Titanic? 2200+. There were not enough Lifeboats.

What are you on about? They didn’t have enough for the amount of passengers? They had the legal requirement but not enough for everyone there

I dont like channels with "click baits". There was not enough lifeboats per passenger, even if they never would have gotten time to lower them all, they still didnt have enough okey.

Some of the comments go to show some people watched half a minute of this video and then drew their own conclusions rather than actually staying to learn. Fantastic video you have earned my follow as you are very informative and enjoyable to watch.

Okay I understand everyone saying “they did not have enough life boats for every passenger, they only had the legally required amount”. However she clearly explains the ship sunk in the best way it possibly could and they still did not have enough time to lower the legally required amount of life boats. So I’m just confused how more boats would have been beneficial in this specific scenario? ( not that I think we SHOULDN’T have enough for every passenger )

a friend told me about book The Silent Dominion by D. Cross and said "the system isn't broken it's built this way." i thought that was just a cool quote until i read the book. D. Cross explains exactly how everything from media to finance to politics is structured to keep regular people reacting instead of understanding. short book but it will rearrange your entire brain

I don’t think it would’ve mattered bc they weren’t even putting enough people in life boats.

I saw another video that explained that another reason they didn't have more life boats was that the plan was to use them to get passengers to another nearby rescue boat then they could return for more passengers. this plan didn't work for titanic of course because it sank before another ship arrived.

it's also been said that in the initial hours the first lifeboats were launched not completely full. due to a combination of 1st class passengers not wanting to be crowded and people not believing or understanding the urgency to evacuate the ship. I've also read that in those days life boats were still primarily mean to be used to ferry passengers to another vessel as they believed they would have another ships assistance long before the ship fully sank.

First of all, they didn't fill all of the lifeboats to full capacity. Second of all, according to witness accounts it also took them quite a long time to establish that the ship was sinking and to make the decision to load people onto lifeboats. Poor decision making and lack of organisation/training was clearly a contributing factor and they absolutely could have used more lifeboats if the emergency was handled better. And none of this makes it untrue that they didn't have enough lifeboats.

This is extremely misleading. There was not enough lifeboats for every passenger to have a space on one.
