it's nowhere as addictive as many other substances. it barely does anything to dopamine and is not more-ish. you'd only know if you tried it

I did ketamine therapy for two years once every four weeks and I never needed or “fiend” in between. The experience is so intense that you immediately respect it. To this day I can’t imagine a casual blast off before going to work. It’s absolutely a set and setting experience.

The psychiatrist i worked for only offered Spravato (esketamine) and when i asked it was because at least Spravato has some sort of standardized rules and safety standards (since it is FDA apprpved) whereas off-label use is wholly dependent upon the provider’s discretion. It makes me wonder if there are other areas where doctors may potentially have *too* much discretion.

The tolerance thing is baffling to me. From being around people who use it recreationally, the tolerance increase is huge. I’ve even heard that it has one of the highest tolerance increases of any drug. Could the low therapeutic dose be preventing tolerance?

both my mom and I tried ketamine therapy. my mom found it very helpful but I HATED it and would never try it again. even with my dislike of it, I could see how someone would enjoy it and with how easy it was to get the prescription, it does seem like it could be worrisome. this was a very interesting tiktok, as of all of them are.

Should never be done at home- always in the office- always by trained personnel. Dependence due to not wanting to go back to a severe depression- not dependence in which you have withdrawals.

ketamine can be psychologically addictive, but literally anything can be. its not chemically addictive so i feel like its kind of a bad comparison to put it against something as chemically addictive as opioids

I have a lot of experience observing k use in the rave community, and it definitely has the potential for addiction, but it's less addictive than the other common drugs and seems to affect different people very differently

Trauma specialized psychologist here- and following! Keta assisted therapy can definitely be the new treatment modality. It does worry me that you can order it online easily, prescribed by an APNP (no shade here! I love my NPs but can we get comprehensive care with therapy and medication?!)
