I feel like I'll get lucky and think of a faster, better, cheaper solution while I'm avoiding the problem. It's a gamble that has paid off before. You never know who you'll meet at the bar

My experience has been exactly the same, until recently. When forced by a deadline to two tasks I completed each in very little time and have now convinced myself it is better to just ignore everything until the last second, or otherwise forced to do it.

If it takes less then 2min… get it done right away before it adds up! I think is a lot better … what do you think?

I experience a drop in energy going from thinking about doing something generally to thinking about organising and preparing to carry out the initial steps required to get the ball rolling. The energy drop then creates a physical barrier. I know this is probably just laziness but I can’t help it!

Yes I feel like being overwhelmed by the number of tasks or the number and complexity of the steps in the task. I relate it to needing to complete a task in your mind before you can actually do it.

I don’t start because I can’t stomach the process and don’t care enough that I’m putting it off for a day when I can finally tolerate the idea. For me, it’s confidence. We do the easy things first not because they are easy for everyone, we’re just confident in how.

I’m at the other end of the spectrum. I live by the credo that you never put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Therefore, I will always get it done. Otherwise, I have no cognitive map for how the task will get done. But, it is tiring.

I definitely experience this unless significant immediate external pressure (explains my chosen career). Once engaged meaningfully in the task I’m often “locked it” and will persist for hours.

I love this. I don't put things off for tomorrow unless I run out of time then I finish the task the next day otherwise I never put things off for the next day.

I’m 78 and literally am tired in the afternoons. Hence any task that presents itself in the afternoon I will defer it to the next day if I can. That said when the next morning comes, I am on the task so that others don’t think that I am blowing it off but legitimately postponing until my energy level is higher
