A basic Google search can clear this up, the blockade is centered around Iran, any ships coming out of Iranian ports or paid Iranian tolls will be turned around or seized, all other ships approved by the US can pass, no tolls, meanwhile the US is performing mine clearing operations so that ships don’t have to travel near Iran.

For people confused on why the US closed the straight: Irans military capabilities have been virtually decimated, including their abilities to produce more. This means Iran has to turn to its friends to buy weapons in order to continue fighting. Iran was forcing ships to pay tolls to pass the straight and allowing Iranian oil freighters to pass the straight, supplying them with money to purchase weapons from their friends like China or Russia for example. The blockade the US has done, makes paying the tolls to Iran pointless, as the ships will be seized, and Iranian oil tankers cant sail their oil to the nations purchasing it from them. Iran thought they could close the straight and choke the workd economy into submission forcing the US to leave, the blockade ensures that Iran also feels the reprocussions of closing the straight. It chokes their economy into oblivion as 80% of irans government income relies on its oil trade. 27% of its overall GDP as well. The US is also redirecting oil tankers to the US to purchase American oil (which is better oil than Irans btw). The oil we have sold by has already covered the entire cost of this conflict including weapons used, and equipment destroyed. Iran will have to come back to the table, or its economy will completely collapse, and infighting becomes more frequent. The strategy is genius.
