Oh yes, the lazy approach putting it over top of shingles because you don’t want to do the extra work to strip off the shingles. That’s not really the correct way to do it either.

metal roofing over shingles is not an issue. the issue is putting the screws in the valleys and not in the peaks. I understand that there is a rubber gasket on the screw put that gasket will degrade long before the roof, thus inviting water to leak in.

And suddenly everyone has 35 years of constitution experience. I was born and raised in my family’s business and my dad had been for for well over 40 years we’ve done this before my dads house is even like this we put our screws in the ridge though but there’s nothing wrong with this and I can promise u it will not leak
