@precisely.this: I think I’m on to something…neurodivergent people can’t fake being something. We can’t sleep because we can’t fake it long enough! #sleepinghacks #neurodivergent #adhd #actuallyautistic
I think the biggest life altering information I got was on the topic of sleep was from Mythbusters. I didn’t know this at the time of course but it’s stuck with me. The episode tested and found that even if you’re lying down with your eyes closed it still gives you physical/mental rest which is better than pulling an all nighter. So I never pretended to sleep with the expectation of falling asleep. I never worried about my time being better spent since this WAS the better way to spend my time lying down eyes closed. I think that’s where the magic lies. At some point I get bored enough to fall asleep and I never had the pressure of sleep as the end goal

I tell myself its time to rest. I takes about an hour of relaxing in the dark but I make up stories and visuals in my head until my body finally kaunks out.

I relate to this in a big way! My doctor prescribed me a super tiny dose of my stimulant to take at bedtime with my sleep meds and I swear it works!

Recently, I’ve been listening to apocalyptic stories on YouTube. You’d think it would give me nightmares but the 5 minutes I hear before sleeping is literally long lists of things the doomsday prepped is getting to survive and I’m asleep before that 😂😂😂. I do like the pretend to sleep thing too. But I’m actually a really good sleeper. I can sleep anywhere any time.
