My son also had Catatonia in autism. We went many months with zero answers until I found it by researching on the internet. As soon as we suggested it to the doctors, we started treatment and he stabilized.

hot take and it sounds bad, but people like this shouldnt be alive. They are in pain that they cant explain, they cant live a normal (or a close to normal) life, they cant do anything, and they are a huge weight to the family members who "raise" them. I get it, "they deserve life too" but i think not. They are a weight and a loss to society to maimtain and wont contribute anything in their entire life, and they are in agony too.

All the comments saying “I could never” and “quality of life” when you aren’t addressing the real issue here. People like this are real and already exist. The argument here is that they are still people. They feel pain and sadness and happiness and everything you do. Why aren’t we doing what we can for them? Each child with special needs is uniquely different and requires special attention from every facility and state
