@eugbrandstrat: Technology was supposed to free us. Instead, it just gave us more work. Today: why the backlash to AI follows the same pattern as every major technological disruption in history - and what that means for the brands caught in the middle. -- #brandstrategy #marketing #marketingstrategy
I use ai everyday and it makes my life much easier when it comes to organizing my brain and research. It’s only people who don’t use ai who think it’s useless.

I use ai for 80% of my work as a software engineer and I hate it. I made faster but it also makes me do the parts that I hate about software engineering

You’re so so close to seeing the underlying system and critiquing it but you’re not quite there. Often, the luddites you mention are thought in classes with the implication of “look how silly they were for rejecting the technology that nowadays we know is genuinely useful and important” it’s the same with the internet and the same with AI. What is missed in the conversation about the luddites and AI is a critique of the underlying system of capitalism. It is not AI that leads to the exploitation and increased work levels, it is capitalist interests to squeeze the most profit out of resources (our labour is just another resources). AI and tech in general will be FUNDAMENTAL to global liberation. Tech is simply a tool, the problem right now is who controls it and that they use it to maintain systems of patriarchy and capitalism. And getting everyone fired up and focused on AI only has everyone distracted from the true root of the issue

I honestly think we’ve peaked, and we’re now rapidly downsliding. Technology is just making my life worse. Every update makes things worse. I think things were ideal maybe 1980s-1990s. But I’d be happy to go back even 10 years and stay there.

With the technological advancements that have been made over the past 30 years a full work week should only need to be 20hours. People are so much more productive today then they were even 15 years ago

I hate tha work wants us to use AI for everything. Like if I have a lot of data to put into boxes? AI is fine. If I need to write a four line email? I don’t need AI.

1000%. Maybe it was naive, but when I was younger, I believed that tech companies wanted to improve the world. Extremely hard to believe that in 2026.

AI is great; capitalism is the problem. A civilised society would use AI to bring about a golden age for everyone, instead of building a more unequal, precarious and dystopian future.

I said the same thing in 2023 when creative directors was convinced it would give us more time. Did the Industrial Revolution do the same thing? No, you’re just expected to have a higher output put 😪

Literally because what do you mean I spent over 200,000 dollars on a college degree just to be laid off in the first five years of working and now I’m back at my dad’s construction company because “they will always need builders”

And, as usual, corporations and politicians will lie and claim that their data shows that *other* people love AI, and they will keep investing in it.
