I absolutely love the word choices made in the writing. He says Hoover and toilet instead of vacuum and bathroom. It very much gives the impression that he was never involved with or gave much thought to either of those things before moving to the UK/taking up with Claire.

I think you’ve presented a false dichotomy. It’s not as simple as good and evil. In fact, at its heart the show resists that duellist perspective: good people do bad things and bad people do good things and actually there are no such categories because truth resists simplicity. Even love isn’t the answer. Life and relationships are more complicated. Sometimes the right thing to do is to leave even after 11 years (Claire choosing herself and Iceland). Sometimes the right thing is to stay because you’ve made a commitment (the priest). Fleabag has to decide who she is and live with the consequences of her own decisions. The point is that it isn’t clean cut. She wants to be told what to do and to have black and white answers. The therapist doesn’t give her answers. The priest doesn’t either. Instead, it’s the other fleabag (the fox) who understands without any words at all.

I love the psychology of this show, they added so much detail even down to the clothing. Claire's dress in this scene is clearly a colour that doesnt best suit her and I reckon that was chosen on purpose to represent her choosing her current life and current partner
