Isn’t that the beauty of Kafka? Even in metamorphosis, the main character just wakes up transformed into the creature with no explanation whatsoever. It’s the absurdity of his whole writing, making one wonder and ponder.

I just love Kafkas stories so much! In Germany we even have a word dedicated to him to describe exactly those strange and absurd situations. Its called “kafkaesk”.

I love Kafka, his charm and success is translating that sort of lack of sense and institutions’ inability to do something. Literally he wrote how life is unfair and without purpose but it still goes on creating more confussion and you just go on trapped in that labyrinth.

great work tend to leave us charged with emotion, and i think Kafka does it beautifully with the Trial! i do understand the helplessness and the frustration for the lack of closure/new information but i feel like maybe that adds to the theme the story is emphasizing? i do remember feeling similarly when i finished that book, though but it does help letting it marinate, and discussing it! 😅 hope youre okay, freddie! hahaha 🫶🏽

I can tell you really liked the ending lol (real Kafka boy). I have even less motivation to read it now, but thanks for comparing it a bit with two books I actually read, I’ll tell you my opinion of “the trial” if I ever read it

Kafka for me is more critical, different of Dostoveik that has a lot of emotional, we can find this in the ways the stories of Kafka is build, a lot of metaphors.Dostoveisk has a lot of psicological descriptions.I love both because the reflexive way of life is incredible, and this diferrence became richer the reading.

Maram✨ :
In The Trial, Joseph is less concerned with proving his innocence than with understanding why he was condemned in the first place. That struggle echoes Kafka’s relationship with his father, whose rejection left him searching for an explanation that never came. Perhaps the novel remains unresolved because Kafka himself never found the answer he spent his life searching for.

Do you think it was actually not complete. Understanding that all his works were published after his death. So it could have been incomplete or a draft. Never read it but heard a lot about it. But again, it is Kafka, that was his style.

Isn’t this how the life is? Always unfinished and forever unexplained. I thought it made the story even more intriguing
