It Mirrors Transracial Claims (Which Are Also Invalid) The RCTA movement echoes the discredited idea of being “transracial” in the sense of choosing to identify as another race (not to be confused with transracial adoption). This was popularised by cases like Rachel Dolezal, who claimed to be Black despite being born white. Such claims are considered offensive because they disregard systemic racial experiences and histories. ⸻ 4. It Reinforces Harmful Stereotypes RCTA often involves idealising or fetishising East Asian traits (such as K-pop or anime culture) and reinforces orientalist and stereotypical views of Asian people.
