There are several issues in farming right now due to self profiting blockades put in place by Fianna Gael in recent years.
1. Last elections, funds were promised for farmers which were not given. Instead farmers incomes were given to a 3rd party, bord bia, who put a blockade on the funds forcing farmers to join their ponzi pyramid scheme to gain access to their income. This whole process was beyond criminal. Farmers who refused to join lost access to their incomes.
2. No access to basic animal treatment products online anymore. This blockade put on treatments for parasite control in animals reduces animal welfare and makes getting vital treatments for animals unnecessarily difficult.
3. Excessive fuel costs due to tax blockades have increased not only fuel usage by farmers themselves but contractor prices farmers pay have increased, feed deliveries, recycling costs, machinery maintenance inputs and all other services farmers use have all increased their prices onto farmers.
4. The straw blockade introduced by Fianna Gael has blocked access to bedding farmers have used for decades. This was recycled as organic fertiliser and was a vital component to animal welfare and land fertility in agriculture. With the blockade on bedding material, at a time climate change forces animals indoors longer, we see disease increasing year on year in the herd costing farmers millions. Fianna Gael are attempting to profit from this further by introducing more testing at farmers expense. No doubt this was the reason of the straw blockade in the first place.
5. No access to fertiliser. Farms are in massive decline throughout the country as a result of Fianna Gael's blockade on fertiliser access for farmers made worse with blockades on straw. Co-op's have no fertiliser in stock and quote ridiculous prices making it unviable for many farms. People's lawns are greener than farmland now due to farmers being forced to remove more than they can put back into farmland. This has long term consequences for our critical food infrastructure.
The consequences of Fianna Gael's disastrous regime is now visible in the land of the countryside.
