Who is he? ​Mazhar Khaleqi is one of the greatest and most prominent voices in the history of Kurdish music. He was born in 1938 in the city of Sanandaj (Sna), East Kurdistan. ​2. Education and Early Beginnings ​He began his initial music education under the guidance of Master Rostam Moqaddas and Hassan Kamkar. Despite his passion for the arts, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and a Master’s degree in Industrial Management from the University of Tehran! ​3. A Turning Point in Kurdish Music ​Khaleqi was the first Kurdish artist who managed to blend traditional Kurdish folk songs with the grand symphonic orchestras of his era, all without stripping away their Kurdish authenticity and soul. ​4.
