@feralforaging: An American vegetable most Americans have never heard of. Try Gather, my foraging app with a free month trial using the link in my bio to find out if it grows near you and when you can gather it! (Removed unintentional music from previous upload) #foraging #sochan
sochan is not the "common" name. its our word in the Cherokee language for this plant and no one was using it but us until it became popular on social media. if you insist on using it please gove credit where it's due. cut leaf coneflower or green head coneflower are the common names.

I was just singing its praises to someone I gave seedlings of it to yesterday. More people should definitely being growing it, especially in food gardens and native plant restoration

Advice for people wanting to plant them: they thrive along the edges of woods and the spread! So make sure they’ll have plenty of space, they can get tall (8+ feet) and spread through rhizomes, probably not the best for small yards and gardens

looks very similar to Aegopodium podagraria that grows all over Europe. although very nutritious it is now more known as a weed people hate 😞 very good for gout as its name is a derivative

To anyone reading this and is thinking of foraging, remember to take only enough! Other animals rely on the same plants for their diet, especially if its native. Kudzu and other highly invasive species are perfectly fine to harvest as much as you like tho
