Also Cyprus and Greece are formally bound to NATO and the EU, yet maintain significant pragmatic ties to Russia. They often express diplomatic caution when Western interests clash with Russian ones. And although this seems contradictory until you understand that NATO and EU membership don’t erase centuries of historical experience or regional geopolitics.
