@beginbirding: Your local park is full of birdsong right now 🌳 Your local park is actually one of the best places to learn birdsong. The birds are used to people, so they sit out in the open and sing for longer. So you can get much better views to match the sound to the bird. Blackbird - rich and flutey from the treetops, one of the earliest singers of the day Robin - thin and wiry, singing loudly from all over the park right now Coal Tit - higher and faster than Great Tit, often giving itself away near pine trees Greenfinch - a wheezy mixed song with those distinctive drawn out nasally notes, listen for the variation Treecreeper - easy to miss because it’s so high pitched, but they normally call constantly before they sing so train your ear to catch that first Subscribe to my weekly newsletter via the link on my profile for more 👆 Which of these do you hear in your local park? 👇 #birdtok #birdlovers #birdwatching #wildlifesounds #naturetok

I find blackbirds really interesting because they can mimic other sounds. Growing up, I used to get woken up by a lorry reversing into the place opposite where I lived. Then I went out to check one day at 5am because it was getting ridiculous how early these lorries were turning up, and it turned out it was a blackbird making the sound and then going into it's song! So then every morning I would watch the blackbird pretending to be the lorry 😂

I’d love to remember which sound is for which bird. I love hearing the bird at the bottom of my garden but can never remember the tunes each make. Which is the best app to get to help me distinguish each sound?

Saw a tree creeper for the first time at the weekend, after hearing it for months. It was SO COOL to see it flitting up and around a tree trunk 🥰

Wondered about a particular noise a bird made and come to find here. It was a greenfinch all along. I never see them but always hear them
