I think she is trying to say that she was looking at it in a straight forward sense. If you are making 300k+ you can afford an apartment. The issue for the players is more on the side of often having very little notice, getting traded unexpectedly, getting cut etc. She was admitting that she wasn’t looking at it from the “emotional” perspective that it can be destabilizing and the policy is to support in that situation.

I can understand both sides of this as in if I make $100,000 a year I should be able to afford housing but after taxes and they get taxed in every city they play in that 100k is 50k or less, plus the possibility of being traded multiple times can happen so if housing is important then it is what it is

In any professional job if they make you move they pay for a portion of your moving costs and if it’s temporary and you move a lot housing is not unheard of

In most cities, you have to sign a year lease and the players get traded. In California, a one bedroom apartment is $2000-3000 a month!!! That is a significant chunk of their salary!

I would assume that moving costs and temporary housing would be in their contracts bc of what short notice players receive of where they're going. Are they looking for long-term/perm housing to be provided or something?

I get it because you never know how long you will be stying on a team so housing is something I would like too. It is now like a normal job. BUT they are making A LOT of money and should be able to pay for it.
