it's actually precious how Sokka leaps on top of her to protect her in that scene. They wrote him to be so brave in a world where there's basically magic. He may not have any of those powers but he still runs into danger and protects his friends, even if he is putting himself at risk. And he trains hard to be formidable despite not having bending which is also cool. I loved the swordsman training episode for him so much.
