@watchdesignco: The "secret" origin of the Apple Watch. 🛸⌚ Before Jony Ive and the Silicon Valley era, there was Marc Newson and Ikepod. Long before the world saw the Apple Watch sport band, Newson was perfecting this sculptural, "pod" design language in the Swiss watch world. From the seamless monocoque cases of the Hemipode and Megapode to the organic curves of the Seaslug and Manatee, Ikepod wasn't just making watches, they were creating wearable industrial art. If you've ever wondered why your Apple Watch feels so "pebble-like" and ergonomic, you’re looking at the contiunation of Marc Newson’s original vision. This is the design rabbit hole you’ve been looking for. #applewatch #watchdesign #industrialdesign #watchtok #watchcollector
The Apple Watch Hermes faces are incredible good. I think the best in their whole line up.

Unappreciated Remarks :
The Marc Newson whatever the f design language is the only reason I still don’t want an Apple Watch despite how functional it is.

What’s crazy about this all is that Apple had some of the greatest designers of our time. They all left around the same time and Apple just is a hallowed out core of what it could have been. I remember when they hired Marc I was so excited about the future of apple’s products including the Apple Watch.

Apple loves to pretend they invented something..... but have never invented anything....they're marketing geniuses, not design geniuses.
Another great post.

I had a strong desire for one of these watches back in the mid-90s, but they were far beyond my budget. Back then, I wouldn’t have considered myself a watch enthusiast, but I was so captivated by its industrial or outsider design. Eventually, I found and purchased a replica. Don’t judge me for that, but looking back, it’s quite surprising that such a niche watch would make its way into the replica market during that time.
