@jodimmosley: Don't listen to your dermatologist! Applying tretinoin to dry skin will make your skin DRY! It will peel and flake and look progressively worse. Do this instead: Prioritize hydration: 1. Gentle cleanse with a an oil cleanser. You can do a double cleanse with the same gentle cleanser. 2. Pat dry but leave skin damp. Spray skin with a gentle toner or mist. Leave damp. 3. Apply hyaluronic acid on your damp skin. 4. Apply a genorous layer of moisturizer while skin is still slightly damp. 5. Apply your tretinoin, let sit 1 minute. 6. Finish with a GENOROUS layer of moisturizer. Let sit at least 30 minutes before going to bed. Tips: ✨Do not layer tret with other actives ✨Do not use too many actives in your AM routine ✨Make sure to apply and reapply sunscreen (preferably a tinted mineral sunscreen). ✨Avoid the sun as much as possible. ✨Focus on barrier repair products and avoid harsh ingredients. ✨Be careful not to accidentally use too many actives (your cleanser and moisturizer shouldn't have additional actives). ✨Ingredients to look for; ceramides, panthenol, hyaluronic acid, pdrn, collagen. ✨Focus on calm, gentle soothing ingredients. ✨ Better results come from having a strong skin barrier. 💦Hydration is your friend. #sandwichmethod#tretinoin#adultacne#blackskincare#highmaintenancetobelowmaintenance
Hey girl! Esthetician here. Applying to wet skin can increase irritation as damp skin absorbs the product at a faster rate. You absolutely should not apply to damp skin. You can try a sandwich method (apply moisturiser first) to reduce dryness or flaking

Yep, I use watery hydrating toners > apply tret and let sit for 20 mins > follow with a mist to damped my skin > go in with hyaluronic acid, essence and finish with a good moisturiser.

Never take tips from beauty influencers on the internet. Just go to an actual professional that has studied and treated people for years

Yes I started using hyaluronic acid b4 tret but how long do you wait to add after hyaluronic acid I been waiting 30 min since I was told it’s supposed to be dry & im at every other day .1% and I haven’t flaked since I started doing that. Derm told me I have to do every night but I’m scared to move up 😂😂. I may move up next month.

Last time I checked, dermatologists have BEEN recommending the SANDWICH METHOD. Also, it's irresponsible to tell people not to listen to people who studied years to be experts.

skincare is definitely not 'one size fits all'.
It really does depend on your skin. For example, I wouldn't be able to cleanse with just an oil cleanser (twice) and not break out. I have to use a gel or water based cleanser straight after to get rid of the oil cleanser. So definitely see what works for u

your skin is absolutely gorgeous! so, obviously its working for you. But I have always read that wet skin makes you absorb tret deeper and more uneven causing issues. I do sandwich method but wait 20 mins for it to fully absorb. but of course waiting is annoying lol
