I remember one time my husband was away on a business trip and I had an AWFUL day at work. I haul ass to go get the kids and I am tapped out, I have nothing left and we had no money for fast food. I go to the fridge and I start putting stuff on plates and made a "buffet" of left overs and cut up fruit and veggies, I spread a blanket in front of the TV, put a movie on and let them go to town. They raved about it for like 2 years. We now do buffet dinner for all special occasions (except its planned now and not just left overs and whatever was at the back of the fridge lol). Us choosing the fun option once and a while really does make core memories.

I feel like I’m already working through the silly rules I’ve created for myself growing up and questioning why I have those rules because as an adult I have free will, so then to bring that into motherhood, is a whole other ballgame, but I know I need to because I take it all too seriously sometimes

I’m deep in survival mode and trying to get out. A few days ago I made my kids an “Artic” bath. Ice cubes that immediately melted, blue bathbomb for the water, bubbles, artic noises on YouTube. They were giggling uncontrollably the entire time and it hit me that I was building childhood memories in the moment. It healed a small part of me as a result.

Getting outside is everything for me. We will be outside and they will ask if I can spray them with the hose…why not?! Easy no effort and it brings them so much joy! Plus I can water my plants lol

Totally get it! One of my favourite “fun mom” moments was when I did an over the top Harry Potter themed movie night with themed snacks, “butter beer”, I turned the living room into a movie theatre. I made movie tickets etc… Was so fun for us all! ♥️

I keep a drawer of chocolates and “night time snack” in my vanity and every night we enjoy one together after a bath. Or share a bowl of night time cereal 🫶🏼 also every Friday morning we go to our local donut shop and eat a donut together, I’ve been teaching my 4 year old to hold the door open for me and others and ordering on his own

I make my kids a charcuterie board after school and sometimes secretly buy them desserts and just pull them out as a surprise. Last weekend I made them smiley face pancakes. I love it and they do too.

We have a local drive in near us that has soft serve cones for $1.50. Every once in a while on the way home from school they ask if we can get ice cream that night and I go “she we just go right now? Before dinner?” And they lose their minds everytime 😂😂. But also I want ice cream so it’s a win for us all.

My car was parked far away from our house. I had my child and a baby & it was raining like wow. We had to get to school I looked at my 4 year old and said “ shall we get a taxi to school today?” Oh wow he was so happy 😂
