I too would choose a real life member of my family to a hypothetical person I have yet to meet. Irl I would choose my best friend, life partner and mother of my children to my adult sibling, even though I love them both.

I’ve been dropped for saying “I’ll pick you over the baby” in the “you can only save your wife or the baby” discussion. And I have a similar argument to yours. We can try for another baby, but I can’t make another of my wife. Similarly, I’ll pick my sibling over my spouse, too.
