@thevoidhole: The Schwedentrunk, or “Swedish Drink,” was a brutal torture method used during the Thirty Years’ War. Despite the name, it was not limited to Swedish troops. Mercenary soldiers across Europe were reported to have used the method when trying to force civilians to reveal where valuables or food were hidden. Victims were pinned down while soldiers forced a foul mixture down their throat. Historical accounts describe the liquid containing urine, sewage, manure, stagnant water, and other waste. A funnel or similar object was sometimes used to pour the liquid directly into the mouth so the victim could not resist. The torture was meant to cause extreme humiliation and pain. As the victim’s stomach filled, it would swell painfully. In some reports, soldiers pressed or stomped on the victim’s stomach to force the liquid further down and increase the suffering. The goal was usually to make the person confess where money or supplies were hidden during wartime looting. #thevoidhole #disturbingfacts #horrorfacts
