My hot take is that if you're offering under $50,000, I shouldn't have to go through a multi-hour 2-3 round interview process. For $36,000, you get a 30 minute video call 🤷♀️

Don’t listen to anyone who tries to tell you you’re in this situation bc you majored in journalism. When I was in college we were all told to become software engineers or something tech related if we wanted job security. My husband is in tech and the last three years have been brutal for pretty much everyone he knows. The startup he worked for ran out of money in 2023 and it took him over a year to find a new job, working at it from 9 to 5 like you. Most of his colleagues still haven’t found full time employment doing anything remotely similar years later. And he had the resume, the years of experience, a ton of connections. TLDR: I think pretty much everyone is having a rough go of it. The job market is just absolute crap. It’s not a reflection of you in any way.

I’m 46 and my first job out of college paid $36k a year with a $2500 annual bonus. That was 2003. That salary should be illegal today.

This is not embarrassing this is the reality of a lot of our lives. Rent is 1700 and they wanna pay $15 an hour. After taxes and insurance rent isn’t even an entire paycheck. It’s diabolical truly

I’ve been graduated since 2023 with a degree in communications. I even interned for a NFL team in college. I’ve applied to 1,000+ jobs and have had pretty much no luck. I’m not even getting interviews at this point just rejection emails. Trust me you’re not alone…
