Every day is full of miracles. Woke up? Miracle. Can see? Miracle. Can walk? Miracle. Have food in the fridge? Shelter overhead? Slept in a warm bed? Can protect your child for just this day at least? Pets???!!!! A job that pays enough to live? Connections with kind people? Miracle after miracle. I know my bar is low (for some) but honestly life has been better in this frame.

The universe is full of miracles, but here I am, 62 years old, and I still haven’t gotten used to the miracle of birth. A human being growing inside another human being, then being born, life starting right in front of our eyes. How do we still treat this as ordinary? We celebrate it, but we still consider it normal, even though we have no evidence that this happens anywhere else in the universe.
