Today’s brief bit of balmy weather defrosted everything enough that I was able to get the last bits of the garden cleaned up before it all froze up again. As soon as I brought in that last harvest back in October, all my mind has been doing is thinking about my game plan for next spring. Now with the arrival of seed catalog season, my brain has gone into overdrive. Lots more perennials will be joining in, along with a big expansion of native plants in our back garden. I spent some of the holiday break foraging for some wild seeds and happily came away with some wild cucumber, a few more asters and a few other goodies that I’m excited to welcome to our woods. After eons of longing to have spring bulbs run amok all around us, next spring will bring that longing into a reality. That spontaneous bulb order I made one trying July day arrived ready to be planted in late October. Many thanks to you all for your suggestions on best ways to plant amongst tree roots everywhere. The Hori Hori knife worked like magic, along with a drill for the harder to dig areas. Visions of Snowdrops and Fritillaries now dance in my head. The evenings are now spent logging my seeds and plotting out each plant’s needs. Then the watercolor garden mapping shall begin! Anyone else thinking spring?🧡 #gardeninglife #inmygardentoday #naturalgarden #permaculture #organicgardening #gardenstyle #gardenview #cottagegarden #gardeninspo
