Oh please. child support does not cover half of everything. The amount is based on their paycheck, not by what half the needs are. If you have a lot more money, and your child needs something, you get it. It's about the child, not the money.

I've raised my nephew almost 12 years now and he will be 13 in July. last year I filed child support against his mom and his dad. not because I need the money because they're out living their lives and I'm being mom again.

Courts have percentages based on both incomes. The custodial is responsible for distributing the funds appropriately. If extra is needed it’s up to the individual decides if they do or not

the problem is most of the time child support doesn't cover half of what it costs to raise a child. my kids dad and I set child support as low as they would allow and if I needed help all I had to do was let him know. But, in the same breath, he and I also remained the best of friends and did what was best for our kids together always. so I've always considered us lucky to not have all the drama and to be able to continue to do it all together for the kids.

child support in most cases does not cover 50% of the child's expenses and its a reimbursement for what the custodial parent has already shelled out.

I get 132.65 a month. She is now 17. That 130$ doesn’t even cover her lunch account at school. So yeah, she may ask him for an extra 20$. But I understand what you are saying.
